Three cheers for CNN's Brooke Baldwin, who grilled Family Research Council hate group leader Tony Perkins yesterday over his views on same-sex marriage, his distortions about gay people, and his personal opposition to homosexuality.

In a discussion about changing poll numbers on same-sex marriage, Baldwin asked Perkins if he's ever been to the home of a married same-sex couple, and then got more pointed.

BALDWIN: I know you don’t want to answer the personal questions, but I’m going to try again, Tony. I’m going to try again, and this is really just going to be it for me today. Why, why do – you’ve never been to the home of a same-sex couple – why do homosexuals bother you so much? Would it be fair to characteri–

PERKINS: They don’t bother, they don’t bother me.

BALDWIN: They don’t bother you.

PERKINS: No.

BALDWIN: Not at all?

PERKINS: I’m not going to be silent while they try to redefine marriage in this country, change policy, what my children are taught in schools, and what religious organizations can do. I’m not going to be silent, nor are millions of other Christians across this country. Doesn’t mean I have a dislike for homosexuals.

GLAAD's Herndon Graddick praised Baldwin, saying that GLAAD had scolded Wolf Blitzer last week for allowing Perkins' bigotry, lies, and distortions to pass by.

Said Graddick: “Tony Perkins isn’t merely someone who opposes marriage equality, this is someone who opposes gay people period, and Brooke Baldwin did a good job of making that clear. Tony Perkins cannot be used to represent those who may not yet be there on marriage but support LGBT people in other areas. Baldwin used her questions to put his views into context, and told her audience a complete story.”
