The Minnesota Senate Judiciary Committee rejected evil Michele Bachmann’s consitutional amendment banning gay marriage by a party line vote of 5-4.
Bachmann, a Republican rep from Stillwater, has been fighting for the amendment for two years. If you’ll remember, just about a year ago, she tried to play sneaky and circumvent the Senate committee process by forcing a vote on the floor while outside the state Capitol thousands of opponents of the ban rallied against it.
She thought the move would pan out, but it didn’t, and she was later spotted hiding behind some bushes to watch the rally from afar. Said Bachmann at the time: “This is a very serious matter because it’s our children that are the prize for this community. They are specifically targeting our children.”
She has also called homosexuals evil.
Several activists spoke against the amendment before the vote, including former Minnesota Viking Esera Tuaolo. But the most interesting person present at the hearings was Michele Bachmann’s own relative Helen LaFave, a lesbian, who came in opposition to her evil stepsister. She told the Associated Press, “I came to the hearing because it’s a very personal issue. Michele’s been very out in front on it, and at some point I wanted to bear witness on what she’s doing that’s so personally hurtful to me and so many others.”
The two reportedly didn’t exchange words at the hearing, but Bachmann told AP: “I love my sister, and I’m really glad she’s here with her partner. We obviously disagree on this issue, and in that we’re not unlike many other families.”
