Burton’s last Bat flick uses just enough of the campy affectations that Joel Schumacher would later overindulge in. It’s also dark without becoming as joyless as Christopher Nolan’s recent trilogy.

For less casual viewing, cue up this tense drama about a Nebraska family reunion run off the rails. The indie film follows a gay teen from California trying to relate to his midwestern extended family. However, a mysterious incident with a young cousin cast a dark and disturbing shadow over the rest of their time together.
