As far as MTV Video Music Awards performances go, they don’t get much better than Beyonce’s 15-minute medley inspired by the stunning visual album “Lemonade”.
The performance brought soul and symbolism.
After a mini-concert that still has all of social media talking, Beyoncé and her dancers formed a symbol on stage. While some say it was a tribute to the late Prince, others cite it as the gender symbol for female. Either way, Beyoncé can do no wrong.

It also saw Beyoncé pass Madonna as the most decorated VMA artist ever:
Before Sunday night (Aug. 28), Beyonce had 16 Moonmen and Madonna had 20. But Beyonce’s six awards put her over the top.
And aside from Beyoncé, the show was pretty sad. TIME writes:
Prior to Beyoncé’s appearance, deep into the broadcast, the show had been uncharacteristically muddled. Sure, the VMAs, MTV’s sassy answer to the Grammys, have long forged iconography out of an absolute refusal to set limits; that’s how we ended up with moments from Madonna’s “Like a Virgin” to Lady Gaga’s meat dress. But this year’s broadcast’s particular messiness seemed less like the raw material for potential greatness and more like a show put on by a network that has lost its touch both for spectacle and for simple appeal.
