Actor Ross Lynch has been cast to play Jeffrey Dahmer in My Friend Dahmer, a new movie about the serial killer’s high school years.
Lynch is most well known for his roles on the Disney channel’s Austin & Ally series and Teen Beach Movie.

The script was written Marc Meyers and adapted from a graphic novel by Derf Backderf. Meyers will also direct the project.

Dahmer is one of the world’s most infamous serial killers who raped and murdered 17 men and boys in the late 1970s through the early 1990s. The gory tales of his murders often involved dismemberment and cannibalism. Dahmer, who was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and a psychotic disorder, was killed in prison by a fellow inmate in 1994. Lynch is slated to appear in Adam Shankman’s upcoming Status Update and will also appear in A Chorus Line at the Hollywood Bowl this summer. In addition to being an actor, Lynch is a member of the band R5.
