RuPaul’s Drag Race season seven winner Violet Chachki is no stranger to salacious music videos. The reigning queen’s debut “Bettie” was a steamy BDSM-flavored homage to Bettie Page. Now, it’s double the trouble as Chachki teams up with her former Drag Race competitor and current collaborator Miss Fame.
The pair’s new video “I Run the Runway” is a sexy stomp down the runway with enough nightclub debauchery to make Amanda Lepore blush. Chachki and Fame appear in and out of drag, making out with one another throughout the video.
When they’re not locking lips, they’re slaying the runway. Both queens look incredible, serving some tandem glamour in red gowns that remind this author more than a little of a rated-R version of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.
“I Run the Runway” is the product of the queens’ collaboration with photographer Ali Mahadavi, who has previously shot Marilyn Manson, Dita von Teese and Tilda Swinton. Speaking to Wussy Magazine, Chachki said, “Working with Ali Mahadavi was a dream come true! He truly understands what real glamour means, transforming yourself into the person you want to be through beauty. Naturally Miss Fame and I were drawn to this train of thought and aesthetic, and he to us.”
