HIV/AIDS. Planned Parenthood L.A will begin offering PrEP at its newly opened West Hollywood health center in the next year, expanding out to other Planned Parenthood clinics: “‘We will be providing these services at our sites over time,’ said Sue Dunlap, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood L.A. ‘We’re going to start with PrEP and PEP here in West Hollywood, because we know it’s the place where there is the most need.’ Planned Parenthood L.A. will offer both drugs at all 20 of its clinics by the end of next year, said Dunlap. The only other Planned Parenthood group in Southern California offering these services is in San Diego. Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties said it’s considering adding the service sometime next year as well.”

SHOWBIZ. Carrie Fisher talks about losing 35 pounds before appearing in Star Wars: The Force Awakens: “They don’t want to hire all of me – only about three-quarters! Nothing changes: it’s an appearance-driven thing. I’m in a business where the only thing that matters is weight and appearance. That is so messed up. They might as well say get younger, because that’s how easy it is.”

ISIS. Britain votes to join air campaign against the Islamic State in Syria: “The vote put an end to an awkward year in the close military alliance between the United States and Britain, during which the Britons joined the Americans in bombing the Islamic State in Iraq but drew a line at the Syrian border. The British government had reasoned last fall that — unlike in Iraq — the Syrian government had not invited Western intervention.”

There are steps we can take to make Americans safer. We should never think that this is just something that just happens in the ordinary course of events because it doesn’t happen with the same frequency in other countries. I mean, I say this every time we go one of these mass shootings, this just doesn’t happen in other countries.”

SOCIAL MEDIA. Justin Theroux joins Instagram with a very fine-looking selfie.
