Few artists are able to develop an accessible bridge for eastern sounds and make them available to global audiences in a thoughtful way. Khidja, a duo hailing from Romania, skillfully incorporates many elements from eastern cultures into their productions, mostly Arabic and Andalusian – which combined with genres such as techno, balearic and disco result in a unique world for their music.

Khidja’s latest work is the 4-track EP El Fadaa, which is due to be released later this month. The A side, ‘Racheta El Fadaa,’ is available for full listen – a slow-tempo song featuring chants, a typical Turkish bağlama and heavy dose of textural hypnotic synths.

Marquis Hawkes is closing out the year for his label with the final 2015 release on Aus Music. ‘Free of Sin’ is one of the three tracks on the Chance EP, an uplifting tech-house release with a relentless drum work and catchy synths.
Following his debut album Heart, Swedish producer Joel Alter shares a follow up Heart Remixes EP, which includes the futuristic/tribal rework of ‘Everlasting’ by fellow Swede producer Dorisburg.
Rodion, from Rome, has his ‘Bococa Hills’ track remixed by The Emperor Machine, an 11-minute space-funk trip that is true to the British producer’s signature brand.
And also still in that outer space realm, Deep Space Orchestra‘s ‘Let’s Save’ gets a melodic, late-night rework by the very talented Lord of the Isles.

OCCUPY THE DISCO (OXD) is a gay, New York City-based DJ collective who got their start curating alternative night life and music events for the LGBT community. The OXD Mirror serves to showcase house, disco and techno tunes that are definitely off-the-beaten-path but rightfully deserve the attention of the gay ear.
