The political chatter last night was that former vice-president Al Gore was possibly gearing up for a second run for the White House, a prospect that may excite you depending on your level of enthusiasm for Hillary Clinton.
Sources close to Gore, however, pushed back against the speculation:
An associate of the 67-year-old Gore told CNN that the speculation was “groundless,” and a spokeswoman for Gore added later Thursday that there was “no truth” to the idea he is considering a White House run.
Buzzfeed reported that supporters of Gore had begun talking about a possible presidential run, though some Gore advisers poured “lukewarm water” on the speculation.
“This is people talking to people, some of whom may or may not have talked to him,” one Gore adviser told Buzzfeed.
An online poll last month asking respondents to pick candidates from a list of dream Democratic candidates found Hillary Clinton the favorite of 37% of Democrats compared to the 6% who favored Gore.
