Every year bears from all over the country make the pilgrimage to ‘Bear Week’ in Provincetown, Massachusetts, and whether you’re a cub, a daddy bear, a pocket bear, a teddy bear, a muscle bear, a celebrity bear, a grizzly, or even an otter or a wolf, all are welcome.
More lobster rolls are gobbled, Planter’s punches are guzzled, and Spiritus pizza slices are inhaled than during any other week in Cape Cod’s gay seaside paradise. There’s a bulge for every taste at the daytime singlet tea dance and an underwear party where the fur comes out in force. Culture chasers keep their eyes peeled for Armistead Maupin, Matt Alber, Tom Goss, and Brian Sims at every corner, there’s a Broadway tune constantly wafting from the Crown and Anchor‘s piano bar, and you can’t swing a beaver without hitting a former contestant from RuPaul’s Drag Race.
The more social media-oriented (let’s call them Share Bears) took their game to Instagram this week and hashtagged out a set of photos that prove that for one week in July, Ptown is the place to be for bears who just wanna have fun.
