Most of the time, Apple Computer can do no wrong in my eyes, but would you buy a 4GB iPod Mini for $249 if you could get a 15GB regular iPod for $299?
Apple has taken a serious mis-step in the pricing of the cute new member of the iPod family that Steve Jobs said would “go after” the high-end flash memory mp3 player market. In introducing the iPod mini, Jobs compared it to a Rio mp3 player that offers a memory of 256mb and retails for $200.
Rio had an announcement today as well. They’ve upgraded their Rio Nitrus player. It’s now 4GB for $249. Now Apple has a battle on its hands when it could have really undercut its competitors and scored big. Dumb move.
And just when you thought Apple was getting ahead…
And I seriously hope that Apple is offering the update to iPhoto as a free download, especially for those of us that recently shelled out $129 for their new OS. Thoughts anyone?
